“beside ourselves: reflections on girlhood and identity is an exploration of the bittersweet journey through girlhood, and the complex relationships we maintain with our childhood selves. A collaboration from an emerging artist collective, this exhibition balances sentimentality and nostalgia with critical examinations of a gendered upbringing. “beside ourselves” is a visual journey through the corridors of memory, home and the significance of place, and the physically and mentally disorienting process of growing. Through an interplay of mediums, artists present a variety of perspectives that are uniquely poignant, yet universally understood.”
